End of Season

A few rambling items:

As we end another season, I wanted to take a moment to thank the parents and players for their time. And thanks to Sean and Ryan for all they did and for putting up with me.
The girls, as always, were a joy to work with and I hope everyone saw an improvement in their child's play.
For those that are returning in the Spring, we will have a change in how we handle practice time so that we can devote more age appropriate activities for both the younger and older players. There will be more on this later.
Keep an eye out for an email from Sean or Ryan concerning Indoor Soccer at Town and Country; probably for the second (January) session.
Also, even though our season is over, my son's team is still playing and will be practicing the next few Thursdays. Since I will be there anyway with Maria, I am extending an invitation to anyone who wishes to join us. We can have the girls play a few games, work on ball handling (I have picked up a few drill from Kings I want to try out) and let them play. I will be there from 5:30 to 7:00, but feel free to leave when necessary. This will be informal.

And finally, thanks to Mike and all the families for the gift and card. It was greatly appreciated.

Spooktacular Times

The games times have been announced for the Spooktacular. Please arrive 30 minutes before the game as parking will probably be an issue.

We are planning or working with Sean's team to set up an area as a base of operations, if you will, as we have families with girls on both teams. The schedule below lists times for both teams.

New player and change in fees

I am happy to say that we have added a player for the Spooktacular. Morgan Ball, who currently plays for Kelly Jefferson's U8 team, will be joining us. Morgan has an older sister that plays for Lee Bilz's U10 Girls, so a few of you may know her.

Morgan and her mother, Lori, will be at tomorrow's game to play with us and get acquainted.

As we now have 9 players, the fee for the tournament is reduced to $30 dollars. I will have a refund for those that have already paid.

Spooktacular

I will be mailing out the registration for the Spooktacular tournament Wednesday morning. I was unable to add additional players so the cost will work out to $34 per player (275/8).
We are guaranteed three games with an additional 1 or 2 if we advance. I will distribute a schedule as soon as it is available.

Also, a reminder that we play Wednesday at 6:00 PM at Spring Valley.

No practice on Thursday and out last regular season game is on Saturday.

Hello parents,

Wanted to let you all know that we will be having our team and individual pictures taken at the end of the week.

For Bob's U8 team it will be at our Thursday practice at Silverlake so please wear your uniform. The photographer should be there right around 5 p.m. to take them before practice.

For the U10 team, it will be at our Friday make-up game at Crescent Springs at 6 p.m. before the game.

Based on feedback, I am fairly certain that everyone will be able to make their session. I have included the order form for your convenience but will also have some printed out. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Academy Time Change

From Sean Skaggs concerning Monday night Academy Training:

Due to the low numbers for U8 Academy over the last two weeks, I have decided to combine the U8 training with the U10 training. Beginning on Monday, August 30th, both sessions will be held at Silverlake field each Monday from 6:30-7:30p.m. We will have plenty of space if we need to break the younger U8's out depending on what drills we are working on for that particular week. This is an effort to improve technical skills such as dribbling, shielding, passing, shooting, etc.

Hopefully, this will allow some additional time for additional players to attend...as well as, make it more convenient for the parents that have players in both age divisions.

As always, this training is optional and any EESC U8/U10 player can participate.

Academy

I believe everyone knows, but this is a reminder that Academy Training is back. For U8 teams it will be held from 5:30 to 6:30, Monday evenings at Silverlake.

I will be unable to attend most Mondays, but Sean and Ryan will be there.

Schedule is out (Surprise!)

The Fall 2010 schedule has actually been released. We have 5 games at Spring Valley, one at St Pius and two in Independedence (Mills Road). As usual, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time.

Snack list is included. I do not believe we have any food allergies this year, but please let me know if we need to avoid anything and I will let everyone know.

Car Wash Fundraiser

Everyone, Sean Skaggs sent this information out to all coaches to forward to their team parents. If you have any questions, let me know.


We are planning to host a car wash to help our Club purchase some new equipment. I would like each of you to ask your parents and players so we could find some volunteers to work. I think it would be great if players from the same team/age group join each other in this fun event.

If we could try this schedule:
1:00 - U8 girls
1:30 - U8 boys
2:00 - U10's
2:30 - U12's & U14's
...but these times are flexible, any time from 1-4p.m. is perfectly fine.

Saturday, August 14th 1:00-4:00 p.m.

I will be there around Noon with my daughters, Madison (U10), Mackenzie (U10) and Maycie (U8). Charlie's U14 will be there around 2 p.m. If we have a good turn out, the volunteers should only need to work for 30 minutes or so.

2010 Fall Soccer

Hello to everyone and welcome to the 2010 Fall Soccer Season. I am Bob Blasingame and will be coaching your daughters along with Sean Skaggs and Ryan Bihl.

For those parents whose daughters are new to my team, I use the website http://erlangersoccer.blogspot.com/ to send out information. When updates are made to the site, you will receive an email at the address listed on the registration form. We use this in place of phone calls and it has worked well in the past.

Our players this season will be:

Mallory Bihl, Maria Blasingame, Abby Carothers, Grace Koch, Sydney Longshore, Jenna Miller, Rylee Ratliff, Maycie Skaggs and Mia Strohmeyer.

We have a good mix of experienced and new players so we should have a fun season.

Practices will be held on Thursday evenings at 5:00 at Silverlake and run until 6:00 or 6:15. Also, Academy training will be held on Mondays at 5:30 at Silverlake with the starting date to be determined.

I assume that since the only new players to U8 both have older siblings who have played, you will all know what to expect and what equipment is needed, but if you have any questions, let me know.

In upcoming posts we will cover snack schedules, date of our first game and other things, but for now I need to mention that our first practice will be Thursday, August 5th, 5:00 PM at Silverlake.

UPDATE - Game on Sunday

Tried to spread the word Wednesday...but wanted everyone to know that we have a make-up game on Sunday at 4:30 at Miles. This will be the last game of the season.

We still need to plan an end of season party as well (any volunteers out there, he asked hopefully?).

Just meet somewhere for pizza or maybe a picnic. I am open to suggestions.

ALERT! Cancellation

Spoke with the opposing coach who lives in Park Hills area and it is pouring rain and the sky is black. As the weather map looks so bad we are cancelling the game and working on making it up later this week.

Bluegrass Games

Sean and I would like to gauge interest in taking our team down to Lexington for the 2010 Bluegrass State Games. The U8 Soccer will be held Jul 17th and 18th. The entry fee for U8 is $250 - or $25 per player with a 10 player roster and each team is guaranteed three games over the weekend.

Academy Training

Just a reminder to everyone that Academy Training begins tonight at 5:30 at Silverlake. This will run for an hour and will involve all U8 teams, both boys and girls. For those of you with players in U10, their Academy will begin at approximately 6:35.

Spring (soccer) is Here!!!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2010 Spring Soccer season.

A few items from today's coaches meeting:

1. We will have Soccer Academy again on Monday nights...no start date has been set. Likely time is 5:30 to 6:30.
2. Our practice night is Thursday, 5:30 to 6:30 at Miles Elementary (back field).
3. Our first practice will be this Thursday for those that can make it (I know it is short notice). If the field is unplayable we will use the asphalt and keep it to ball handling and positioning drills.
4. We will have an 8 game season beginning March 20th. We will know more early next week.
5. We have everyone back from last Fall with one new addition - Maycie Skaggs.
6. Angie will prepare a snack list for post game snacks. I will provide fruit (bananas/apples/grapes) for halftime. Reminder to all that we have a player with a peanut allergy. If you have any concerns about what to bring, Sean can answer answer any questions.

If you have any concerns about the Academy and practice times, let me know and we can work something out.

Also, please send me an email or leave a comment on the blog so that I know this has been received. If I do not hear back, I will place a call on Monday.
